Since new tanks cost from $700 to over $1,000, we think that this program is a great value.
Current fire safety regulations do not allow repairs to leaking oil tanks; they must be replaced. But until a few years ago, repairs were common. If you are not the original owner of your home, you could have a repaired tank without knowing it.
If a repaired tank is enrolled on the TANK - GUARD Program, it will not be covered under the warranty. The only allowance will be a credit for the first year payment for the warranty program.
To avoid possible disappointment about warranty coverage, we ask that you take a moment to look at the bottom of your tank to see if there is evidence of any repair (fiberglass cloth application, screw heads, metal patch strapped on, etc.). If you are not sure, call us to arrange for a technician to check it for you.
A repaired tank represents a potential safety hazard so, if you have one, we recommend that you consider replacing it with a new tank.
